Great Florida Bank is proud of its record of involvement with the people and communities of South Florida. Our goal is to be recognized as the corporate citizen of choice in the communities we serve by supporting local agencies and non-profit organizations which provide services to those most needing help in our community.

  • Improving children’s wellbeing
  • Financial literacy

We also support and encourage Great Florida Bank associates to be in-service to our community by giving their time and talents to these worthy causes. Great Florida Bank supports local organizations through both charitable contributions and sponsorships.

Definition: Charitable Contributions

Charitable contributions are considered investments of cash or other Bank assets given to non-profit organizations with IRS 501(c) (3) status without expectation of receiving any direct benefit to the bank from the organization. Only organizations that the IRS has granted 501(c) (3) status are eligible for consideration of a charitable contribution.

Definition: Sponsorship

Sponsorships are financial support provided by Great Florida Bank for a specific event, or program. Generally, investment of sponsorship funds to for-profit or non-profit organizations are made with the expectation of receiving promotional, entertainment and community relations value in return.

Eligibility

Sponsorship requests, which present networking opportunities, strengthen business relationships or increase the public’s awareness of the Bank’s brand, will be given priority consideration. Additionally, charitable contributions and sponsorship requests which best meet the Bank’s corporate giving mission and promote our product’s, services will be given priority consideration. The Bank will endeavor to establish on-going relationships and potential business opportunities with each requesting agency and group.

Great Florida Bank does not generally make charitable contributions or investments of sponsorship funds to the following applicants, or for the purposes or benefit of those listed below:

  • Individuals; including Great Florida Bank associates, friends or relatives
  • Fraternal, political, veterans or labor organizations
  • Trips, tours and conferences
  • Endowments
  • Local chapters of national health organizations
  • Religious activities or programs that serve, or appear to serve, specific religious groups or denominations. However, we will consider the proposal if it falls clearly within program guidelines and is intended to serve a similarly broad segment of the population when compared to a program for a comparable non-religious organization.
  • Adult recreational or athletic teams, or youth travel teams
  • Requests by United Way agencies outside the annual United Way campaign
  • Organizations outside of the Bank’s market area (Miami-Dade, Broward or Palm Beach counties)

Great Florida Bank will not fund any organization that discriminates for any reason, including race, religion, creed, age, sex, sexual orientation and national origin.

How to submit a request

Requests must be submitted in writing on official organization stationery, at least 60 days in advance of the event. Proposals for funding must be concise and contain the following:

  • Name of organization, address and name of executive director
  • Contact person, title, telephone number and email address
  • Amount requested
  • Brief description of organization's mission
  • Current list of board of directors
  • Geographic area & target population served by organization
  • Brief description of the purpose for funds requested
  • Percentage of the people served who are below 80% of area median income
  • Age, ethnicity and income demographics of the population served by the organization
  • IRS letter confirming tax-exempt status 501(c)(3)

Please allow four to six weeks for processing contribution and sponsorship requests. All proposals will receive a written response after the Sponsorships and Charitable Contributions Committee has reached a decision.  Request can be submitted by email or USPS to the addresses listed below.
